- About Us
To start our new topic “People That Help Us” we had a visit from our local lollipop lady. She came to tell us how to cross the road safely. She read us a lovely story called “Jack's Accident” which told us about a boy who crossed the road with no help and a car hit him. We then used a variety of puppets to help Jack. The children showed great listening and even thought of their own questions to ask the lollipop lady. Harriet asked “Why do we have to have people on the signs?” and Estelle asked “Why do you have to stop when there's a red man on the road?”
We then practised crossing the road safely in nursery with an adult. We talked about how it is very important to stop, look both ways and listen. When it is safe to cross we must walk across the road, holding an adults hand. We hope that the children can remember to do this outside of nursery too!
We also got another surprise visit, as we have lots of frogs living in the garden pond. Seeing the frogs sparked the children's curiosity and they have been keen to learn lots more about the frogs. Therefore we brought some frogspawn into the nursery and the children are very excited to see it turn into tadpoles.
Our little rays of sunshine this week are Ella-Rae Gustard. As always she has had a very busy time in the garden. She enjoyed helping to make a slide and enjoyed it even more sliding down it. Maisie Sherrington for throwing herself into squiggle while you wiggle and thoroughly enjoying it. Maisie also impressed us when she was very absorbed during story time and recalled it perfectly within the nursery. Kendyl Clark for being a very kind and caring to other children and sitting beautifully in group. Harriet Parvin for her love of reading and trying to sound out any words she sees and finally Charlie McIntyre for always following the rules and routines in nursery and for being such a kind and caring friend to the other children. Keep up the great work everyone!
