Life Cycle of a Hen!

Published on Friday 12 May 2017 by Miss Fox.

We are getting very excited to meet our chicks as we only have four more days to wait! Therefore we have been talking about the life cycle of a hen. We collected sticks to make our own nests. We talked about how the hen keeps the eggs nice and warm so they can hatch. The children loved pretending to be chicks, cracking out of their eggs using their tiny beaks. Niamh C told us “the mammy hen cuddles the eggs to keep them warm then the chickies peck peck out the egg”

The children have also loved acting out the story of “The Little Red Hen” Just like in the story the children got the chance to bake some bread. We kneaded the dough and moulded it into a small ball shape. The children enjoyed watching their dough rise, but the best part was tasting it. All the children agreed that the bread was very yummy and made our nursery smell delicious!

Our little rays of sunshine this week are Katie Beriman for joining in with the little red hen story and doing some brilliant writing outside, Noah Ross for settling so well into the routines of nursery. He was also very confident telling the group all about his adventures with Bella bear, Maisie Sherington for being a superstar and helping to tidy all of the toys away in the garden, Chelsea Hodgson for always trying her hardest during group time. She is kind and caring to the other children, especially our new starters as she has been helping to teach them the rules of our nursery and finally Bobby Dobson for exploring the nursery garden with your friends. Amazing work everyone!
