Minibeasts

This week in nursery was our final week of teaching minibeasts to the children. We looked at lots of different minibeasts and learnt lots of facts about them. After learning about them we went outside in our groups to have a minibeast hunt and see what real life minibeasts were living in our nursery garden. The children were thoroughly engaged in this activity and even continued looking throughout the day to find more. Our butterflies also emerged from their cocoons and we have enjoyed watching them this week but we have now let them free!

We also had a visit from the firemen on Wednesday who talked to us all about being safe around fire but also how to keep safe near water. The children really enjoyed this visit and now know if they were on fire they have to “stop, drop and roll”.

Our little rays of sunshine this week are Ryan Newton for sharing some brilliant facts about minibeasts this week and he was very brave and eager to pick up the creatures. Bobby Dobson for playing co-operatively with his friends. Amelia Sherwood for being a superstar at the logo game and being able to name nearly every one independently. Matthew Van Stekelenburg for being engaged in the minibeast hunt and being so excited when he found some in the nursery garden and finally Grace Tate for brilliant estimating skills and she even remembered estimate means “a good guess”. Well done to all of these children.
