Match day 1

Published on Thursday 7 December 2017 by Mr Storey.

We got our football season underway last night with a two nil defeat against a Wolsingham side. We were very unlucky not to come away with a result, nevertheless the children performed brilliantly and were arguably the better team. Wolsingham took the lead when they caught Crook on the break leaving Taylor Nixon, who had a great game, unable to save a powerful shot. That didn't stop the effort of Crook as they responded very well and were unfortunate not to level when Joe Morris had a great shot saved. Luca Kitching and captain Zack Blair were proving to be a handful in midfield and danced past their opposition on many occasions. Crook then went on to hit the post and put continued pressure on the Wolsingham goal. Whenever Wolsingham tried to attack they stumbled across Matthew Jackson and his fellow defenders who were able to sniff out any danger. The sucker punch came late on in the game when Wolsingham grabbed their second goal making it 2 - 0. Crook kept on trying to break them down but were unable to hit the back of the net.

A very well done to all the children, you gave a great account of yourselves and the school. Also, a huge thank you to parents who came to support in arctic conditions.
