The penultimate match day fixtures saw Crook face two tough teams in St Stephens and Howden-le-Wear.
Crook started the first fixture playing some of the best football they have played all season. They were looking to keep the ball and attack as a team and because of this created some very good chances. However, it was the opposition that took the lead when St Stephens broke on a counter attack to slide the ball past Jo in goal.
The best was yet to come! A few minutes after going behind Crook were given a free kick on the half way line, Alfie stepped up and clipped the ball over the goal keepers head and into the top corner. This, without doubt, will be the goal of the season!
Crook kept the pressure on their opposition but neither team would take all three points. It was a spirited performance but arguable the draw was the fair result.
The last fixture of the night saw Crook face Howden-le-Wear and Crook got off to the worst possible start as Howden took the lead when their striker rounded Taylor in goal. After conceding Crook were brilliant, George was excellent in defence and allowed nothing to get past him, he also nearly rounded off a man of the match performance when he hit the post. Crook were pressing from the front and not letting Howden have any time on the ball thanks to Tanner's hard work. This hard work had a reward for Crook as Charlie squared the ball for Zack who blasted into the top corner from close range.
Again the three points evaded Crook but the two games were a pleasure to watch.
The final fixture of the season is Wednesday 21st March where Crook face Willington at 3:55pm. Hopefully we can gain those three points and keep Mr Askew and myself in our managerial positions!
