Year 1 Autumn Walk

Published on Tuesday 30 October 2018 by Miss Lywood.

After weeks of postponing, Year 1 finally got to go on an autumn walk to kick start a new half term of English. We have started looking at poetry this week and in particular autumn poetry. We decided to go on an autumn walk to collect autumnal finds and came back to class to discuss what we had found.

We used our senses to talk about what we could see, what we could hear and what we could smell. We then came up with some adjectives that we used to describe our autumn treasures.

We found spiky pine cones, crunchy leaves and shiny conkers. We could feel the damp grass and could hear the whistling wind! We really impressed our teachers with our vocabulary today!

We are going to use our autumnal adjectives to complete our own shape poem over the next couple of weeks.
