Match Day 3

Published on Friday 23 February 2018 by Mr Storey.

Wednesday saw the school team with two tough games against Hartside and Hunwick and eventually Crook Primary FC managed to score a couple of goals.

Crook faced Hartside first and started the game on the front foot. The team looked solid defending and enjoyed a lot of possession and could have opened the scoring before they did. The first goal of the season came direct from a corner as Alfie drove the ball in and a slight deflection saw it nestle in the back of the net. After half-time Crook pushed on and looked certain to score again, however the Hartside goal keeper pulled off some great saves to keep it at one nil.

Late into the second half Crook were caught on the break as Hartisde evaded a few tackles to then stick the ball past the keeper Taylor.

Crook were very unfortunate not to get all three points but showed great team spirit as they searched for a winner in the final minutes.

Our second game saw Crook play the league leaders Hunwick. After a grueling first game Hunwick piled the pressure on the crook defense and took the lead early in the match. A few minutes later and Crook started to find their feet. After winning a crunching tackle in the midfield Matthew broke forward before squaring the ball to Zack who nearly broke the net. It was a great reaction by Crook however the tides changed again as it was our oppositions turn to score direct from a corner making it 2-1 just before the half time break. Hunwick continued to press forward and soon scored again when a powerful shot was unstoppable for Jo who was having a great half in goal.

As the game drew to a close Crook drive forward through Charlie and he played the ball off for Tanner who side-footed the ball past the helpless keeper. Crook persevered but were unable to get the game back level.

Thank you to all parents who came to watch, we go again in a few weeks as we search for our first win.
