Little Red Riding Hood

Published on Friday 9 October 2020 by Miss Dickinson.

This week we have been doing lots of activities around the story Little Red Riding Hood. We read the story daily to help us become familiar with it and encouraged the children to join in with the familiar phrases such as what big eyes you have Granny, all the better to see you with. We also looked at routes in which Little Red Riding could take through the forest to get to Grandma's house and we had to describe how we could get past obstacles using prepositional language such as over the bridge, through the mud, around the trees.

We also looked at healthy and unhealthy food and decided what we could take Grandma to make her feel better while she was in bed poorly. The children made their own shopping lists of what they would like to buy to help her feel better. The children have also been doing some counting and matching the quantity to the number as well as making patterns using the characters in the story or some fruit.

Our little rays of sunshine this week are Louciena Coleman for trying so hard when writing her shopping list of things which Little Red Riding Hood would buy for Granny. She was also a superstar at hearing the initial sounds for the things she wrote on her shopping list. Francesca Stephenson for being more confident to do things by herself with a smile. It is lovely seeing her more confident in Nursery and trying hard during focus learning time. Harvey Westwood for following our rules and routines in Nursery and having a great week. He also tried very hard when writing his shopping list for what Little Red Riding Hood would choose for Granny. Zara Godfrey for fantastic sharing whilst playing in the music area. She took turns with her friends and enjoyed singing and dancing with the music instruments. Finally Connie Hanmer for trying really hard to follow our rules and routines in Nursery and being kind to her friends. Well done everyone, what superstars!
