Astronaut Training

Published on Friday 20 November 2020 by Miss Dickinson.

This week we have continued with space in Nursery as the children are loving it! We have had lots of discussions about astronauts and what their roles are. The children came up with some great answers such as “they fix spaceships, go to space in a rocket and look for planets”. The children have had some astronaut training to see if they would qualify to become an astronaut and luckily, they all passed! The children then had to write their own name on their certificates as a keep sake from astronaut school! Evie even said when she grows up she wants to be an astronaut! In Miss Manifold's groups the children also designed their own group planet thinking about what they would like to include. They used many different resources to make a wonderful planet that they all wanted to live on!

In maths we have looked at patterns this week and after reading the story 'Aliens love Underpants' the children had to make their own pair of patterned underpants. We had some wonderful patterns for the aliens to choose from. In Miss Gill's group they also looked at representing numbers.

Our little rays of sunshine this week are Grace Tanner for designing an amazing pair of underpants. Grace told Mrs Blackett “I'm making a dotty pattern”. They certainly were dotty Grace but we loved them! Theo Graydon as he has had a great week and is trying his best to concentrate during group time. This week he used his imagination when creating a planet. He used lots of materials to create his own house, tree, river and island. Brutus Atkinson as he has impressed Miss Manifold while playing the 'pattern machine game'. He looked at the patterned pants and was able to describe them e.g. star ones, spot ones and stripy ones. Olly McHugh for coming to Nursery much happier and exploring confidently whilst here. Finally, Noah Agar for trying very hard in our Maths activity this week. He impressed Miss Gill very much when representing numbers. Well done to you all, what superstars!
