What a fantastic week we or so that we have had since coming back to school. The children have been absolutely amazing returning to school. It was fantastic to hear how much the children were looking forward to getting back to learning and seeing their friends.
The children came into school and were immediately sent on a mission to outer space as part of our Tim Peake topic. The first mission involved the children landing on an unnamed planet and setting up a communications tower to make contact with Earth. The children worked amazingly well as teams and showed great resilience when their tower fell. All of the groups managed to successfully complete the task.
In our second mission, the children had to work together with their partners to collect samples of the earth from the surface of the planet. In order to be successful, they had to make sure that the gas cylinders (balloons) that were providing them with oxygen stayed between them whilst collecting the samples and returning to safety at their base. This was a very tricky task, which the children had show to great resilience and empathy for others so that they could successfully complete the task. There were some example of excellence visible.
Well done Year 5!
