Let's talk about the world...

This week saw the start of a brand new mini Topic, 'Our World'. It has been an incredible week as the children have truly blown us away with the incredible attitude towards creating a better world.

We have tackled some very serious subjects this week such as population, litter and deforestation. Despite how heavy and serious these subjects can be, the children have bought to it an inspiring angle. They showed us why it is important to build a better world. Our children are the future and to watch them act as a sponge throughout this mini Topic so far has given myself and Miss Fox a real push to continue highlighting these issues.

To discuss these subjects we have looked through stories of 'The Messy Magpie' and 'Greta and the Giants'. The children have related to these stories excellently and have wowed us with their use of vocabulary. Here is some of the work that has been completed this week...

Let’s talk about the world...Let’s talk about the world...

Whilst we have been looking at some of the causes and consequences of what is happening in our world, we have also been taking time out to enjoy the world as it is.

This week saw the creation of our minibeast area. Finally, the children have an area they can dig in. (We have asked the children to wear wellies in this area.) Whilst exploring this area the children have found some new friends. They have been asking questions such as “how does the snail stay on the wall like this?”

Let’s talk about the world...Let’s talk about the world...

From the outdoors to the indoors... this week we have also been building on our knowledge of 2D shapes. We have been learning how to use shapes to create pictures whilst also thinking about what we can create if we move and rotate certain shapes. These tasks have certainly been a brain teaser... Miss Fox and I struggled to work out a puzzle that Miss Fox had created! However, the children have shown us up! They did not find it tricky. In fact, they showed excellent patience and resilience and managed to complete many of the puzzles. Well done!

A gentle reminder that the sign up sheets are now in the Main Office for Parent Telephone Calls. The days are set for Tuesday 8th June and Wednesday 9th June. Please call the Main Office to book your appointment.
