In topic, we have continued with our topic 'The Great Fire of London' in which we have gained lots of knowledge on the historical aspects of the event. More recently, we have focused on art within the GFOL. We have explored the work of an artist named Paul Klee and chose a piece called 'Castle and Sun' which reminded us of a city on fire to create our own interpretations of. We used shapes and lines to draw our outlines and experimented making different shades of colours by mixing with black and white. We created some very abstract pieces, with 10 being chosen to be displayed in the dining hall for the rest of the school!

As our new focus in topic, we are looking at physical geography and to aid our understanding of physical and human features we will be going on a short, COVID-friendly walk around Crook on the afternoon of Monday 24th May. Please send your child to school in appropriate footwear and a coat.

In our last COJO's mission, we had to work as a team to navigate across the River Thames using only two rafts. The water was hot so if any team mates fell in, we lost time! The children had to work within their teams and communicate how to win the race across the river without depending on teacher instruction. It was tricky but we made it in the end!
