- About Us
Across the school, all children have been studying geography for the last two weeks. We began with discussing what geography is and what a geographer studies. We then went on to look at different types of maps of our local area of Crook. Some of us were even able to find our homes using Google Earth! We were then taught what 'physical' and 'human' features are in geography and sorted some features we are familiar with into these two categories.
We were then ready to undertake some field work! We walked into Crook town center and focused on identifying as many human features as we could. We took it in turns to sketch our favourite human features, including our school which could be seen from the fire station. Once we returned to school, we researched local physical features in our area and added two sketches to our observations. It was so lovely to be able to go on a field trip again and all of the adults were very pleased at how well the children represented our school, whilst walking around the town.
Please discuss our key geographical vocabulary with the children to see if they know the meaning of each word!
