Autumn continued...

Published on Friday 15 October 2021 by Miss Dickinson.

This week we have continued our topic Autumn. We recapped on what represents Autumn and also talked about things we might wear in Autumn because of the change in weather. We sorted objects and clothing into different piles to distinguish the Season Autumn from one of the other seasons. We also put some objects into a feely bag, put a blindfold on the children and they had to guess by feeling the different objects what they were and try and use some vocabulary to describe them e.g. sticky, smooth, hard.

In Maths our focus this week was size. We had to sort different objects into big and small and use the correct language. We also made some hedgehog homes to put into our Nursery garden for the hedgehogs to hibernate and keep warm. Our children are so kind to the animals!

Our little rays of sunshine this week are Gurjot Singh for sitting in during group time and beginning to join in with some activities. Lucas French for doing some amazing listening, following instructions and generally having a good week. Mason Griffiths for being able to make comparisons between objects relating to size and use the correct language big and small. He also showed a great understanding of the concept size as when asked if the big bear would fit into the small bag he said “no, big bear is too big but the little bear does”. Carter Howe for doing a great job problem solving. He created a tunnel for his man to get across but he could not get him all the way through the tunnel as his hands would not fit so he used a pipe cleaner to push him through and managed to solve his problem independently. Finally, Archie Belshaw as he impressed with his imagination and building skills. He created the most amazing car that had an engine, brake and go-fast pedal. He also remembered to wear a safety helmet and a seat belt. Well done to all of you, what superstars!
