Halloween and Bonfire fun

Published on Friday 5 November 2021 by Miss Dickinson.

The children started this week dressed up in their amazing Halloween costumes and I must say they were some of the best costumes I have seen. Thank you all for your hard work and creative thinking, the children all looked amazing. We did have 2 winners from each session which was judged by the school president and vice president (I am pleased I didn't have to choose). The winners were Charlotte Kirkbride and Dexter Hutchinson from the morning session and Millie Winter and Toby Wallace for the afternoon session.

We have also made some repeating patterns this week in Nursery.

We then moved onto talking about bonfire safety and were very lucky to have the firemen in to reinforce the message of how to keep safe during bonfire night. We made our very own fire engine in the nursery garden and had lots of fun pretending to be fire fighters and keeping safe during bonfire night. We also made lots of lovely firework pictures.

Our little rays of sunshine this week are Mason Griffiths because he was a superstar at remembering how to keep safe around bonfires and fireworks. He said “don't touch fireworks, always keep your pets in the house, don't get too close to the fire.” Amber Barnes for matching patterns as well as describing them such as “spotty, wiggles, stars”. She also did some super listening during our fire safety talk from the firemen. Robyn Charles for doing such a good job at creating a repeating pattern and she was able to remember important facts on how to keep safe from fireworks from our fire safety talk in group and with the fireman. Chloe Crossley for joining in so well at story time, she was able to join in with the whole story of 'The Three Little Pigs'. Finally Daniel Miller for listening so well when the firemen came to talk to us about staying safe on bonfire night. Well done to you all, what superstars!!
