- About Us
We hope that everybody had a exciting and restful half term break. This half term is going to be jam packed with our topic taking new twists and turns as we move towards Christmas! Our topic has carried over from last half term, but we will be focussing on science, DT, music and RE. A child in Y2 has been so excited to learn about the Queen in our topic lesson that they wrote a letter to the Queen and to their surprise, received a response from Her Majesty's Lady in Waiting! Take a look at the images below.
So far in topic, we have looked at habitats and the food chain. Our connected curriculum has helped us to make links between our learning in geography and the desert to some of the habitats that we have learned about recently. After learning about habitats and the food chains in them we put on a puppet show as evidence of our learning!
On Wednesday 10th November, we took part in a whole school special event to mark the COP26 taking place in Glasgow. We were given a brief asking us to think of ways that we could improve the nature on school grounds and at home. We decided that our field is not very bug friendly and we must make some improvements to maintain the food chain and a balanced environment. We presented our ideas to the rest of the school and made a pledge to make the school field more 'bug friendly' over the course of the year by creating a bug hotel and a bee hospital in the summer. Can you make your home environment more bug friendly?
We recently had a visit from Crook Fire Department to teach us about firework safety and we are sure that the children came home and kept everyone safe during their celebrations using their new understanding of the dangers involving fireworks.
We will be holding a 1-minute silence on Remembrance Day at 11am and children are allowed to dress in spots for Children in need on Friday 19th November. Please do not send any donations into school, this is to avoid exchanging germs. Instead, make any donations to the Children in Need appeal which can be found online.
TT Rockstars is up and running and we have had lots of healthy competition between our pupils! Please ensure your child plays on TT Rockstars for at least 15 minutes weekly to assist in their learning in school.
