- About Us
This week our new topic has been all about Space. We have enjoyed exploring our new role play areas both inside and out and using our imaginations to go into space. We also looked at the differences between Earth and Space and the children remembered some facts e.g. “We live on planet Earth” “Things float in space”.
We also have been travelling to space in our flying saucers by pretending to be the astronauts in the song. 'five little men in a flying saucer' We were able to use our fingers to show how many men we had left as well as trying to find the correct number to match.
On Thursday we also celebrated Remembrance Day and learnt all about why we wear poppies. Every child cut their own poppy out and we did our 2 minutes silence together. I was extremely proud of the children for doing this as 2 minutes can be such a long time to be silent for but they did it and made us very proud holding up their poppies.
Our little rays of sunshine this week are Toby Wallace as he showed a good understanding of the differences between Space and Earth and was able to recall some interesting facts. “We live on planet Earth not the moon because there's nothing in there.” “Food in the Spaceship floats around.” Toby Leigh as he was very observant and noticed that all of the pegs had gone out of the basket and said “all gone” He also did a auper job in PE this week. Amber Dent as she did some fantastic number work while singing five little men in a flying saucer. She recognised numbers 0 to 5 and represented these on her fingers. Evie Spence as she has spent lots of time in the writing area, showing great concentration skills while colouring her pictures in this week. Finally, Hunter Howe for remembering lots of facts about space this week “we live on planet Earth” and “the sun is very hot”. Well done to all of these children, what superstars!
Just a little reminder it is photograph day on Tuesday (16th) next week. Every child will be getting an individual photo and if they have older siblings in school they will also be having their photographs taken with them. On Friday (19th) it is Children in need and we are asking all children to come to nursery wearing either spots or children in need clothing. We are not accepting any donations this year for children in need and ask if you would like to donate to this charity you do it yourself.
