Happy New Year!

Happy New Year and welcome back to school. We hope you had a great Christmas break. To start the New Year we learnt what the word "resolution" means. We each thought of our own New Years Resolutions, which we aim to work hard on in order to achieve them by the end of the year.

We have also been working hard to develop our understanding of the concept of one more and one less. Concept Cat taught us how to do this using a few different methods such as with practical objects learning if we needed to add one more or take one away. We also used a number line to help us, Numicon or our fingers. I wonder if your children can you teach these concepts to you at home too!

This week the children were very aware of the changes to the world around them and spotted some signs of winter. They loved exploring the ice and snow and were eager to learn more about the processes of freezing and melting. Therefore we have decided to follow the children's interests and dedicate next week to a mini topic all about the season; Winter.
