We have been studying art this week, taking inspiration from L.S Lowry's charcoal drawings and experimenting with a range of mark making techniques such as stippling, blending, hatch and cross-hatching. The children have enjoyed using a different medium to practice mark making. They explored thickness of line, the effect of using pressure and began creating light and dark in their drawings.
We then went onto creating observational drawings of African animals using pencil and charcoal in the style of L.S Lowry. We improved our original drawings by adding detail and focusing on the finer features of the animals; experimenting with representing the 'fur' and other textures.
