On the Farm

This week we have started our new topic 'On the farm'. We began the week by introducing some animals that live on a farm by singing the song 'Old McDonald had a farm'. We then had a bag of animals that the children had to sort into which animals live on a farm and which live in the sea.

We also played Kim's game which is a great memory game using the farm animals we had been learning about. The children had to look at the animals, then close their eyes and one animals was taken away and they had to guess which one.

On the Farm On the Farm

In maths this week we have been singing our number song 5 little ducks as well as listening to instructions and putting the correct number of animals in the farm. Some of the older children have also been matching quantity to numeral as well as doing some addition sums with the animals. We have some very clever children in our nursery who have really blown us away this week.

On the Farm On the Farm

Our little rays of sunshine this week are Henry Cavagin for doing some super maths work when we did the five little ducks' song. When we had one duck left, I asked if we had one more how many would we have and he was able to tell me that we would have “two”- amazing! Leo McManus as he has had a great start to our new topic. He told us that “the farmer plants corn”. He was also a superstar at sorting the animals and deciding if they lived on a farm or in the ocean. Sheldon-Lee Norman as he was such a great helper. He was able to follow the routine with only a little adult support. Harlie-Jane Irwin as she has been writing her own book at nursery. She told me “I wrote some words” and told me “I made a book about Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len” She then read her book and told me the story of how they were going to steal the fine prize cow and that “It's wrote by Julia Donaldson”. Coby Dent as he has been such a superstar at coming to nursery with no tears and at joining in with our daily routines. He loves being outside and was a great help at panting some peas this week. Finally, Jaxon Gibson as he has settled into nursery very well and is always happy to come inside and say hello to his friends. Well done to you all, what superstars!

On the Farm

Next week we will be continuing these activities but adapting them slightly for our fulltime children. Just a reminder our Farm trip has to be paid by Monday 13th May.

Also as the weather is hopefully starting to get better now please can you put sun cream on for the children who attend 15 hours before they come to nursery and the children who are in full days you will need to supply it and put it on before they arrive and then we will top it up at lunchtime if needed.

Have a lovely long weekend!
