Over the past week we have been using the story of 'Greta and the Giants' to support our learning of the world. In the current climate that we live in, children are quickly learning about the issues are planet is facing. By using our story, the children have learnt about litter and deforestation. They have also learnt about different ways to help our planet such as litter picking, planting more trees and making signs to prevent harm to our planet.
It has been wonderful to have so many insightful discussions with the children and it is clear to see they love Earth and all the animals that live on it. They have amazed us with their incredible attitude towards helping our planet. Here is a snippet of some of the lovely activities that we have done so far...
As we are now in the final half term of Reception we are starting to prepare the children for their new transition into Year 1. This does include learning some trickier concepts such as number bonds. Over the past week and into this week we have been learning about number bonds to 5 and number bonds to 10. The children must be able to recall number bonds with fluency, this means they need to be able to do it quickly! So far so good as they are on a roll with it.
In Phonics we are continuing to recap Phase 2 and Phase 3 phonemes and tricky words. Our main priority is to ensure the children can recognise the phonemes and tricky words, write the graphemes as well as being able to read and write cvc words. The children are working their little socks off and making lovely progress. Please continue to practice these skills at home too.
