Another exciting week

This week we have been focusing on our ladybirds as they have now hatched. Every group was able to carefully have a look at them and then we released them into our nursery garden.

Some children have also been on a minibeast hunt in our nursery garden and they were able to find lots of minibeasts. The children were very good at thinking of places they could look for the minibeasts such as under the logs, in the bushes, in the sand etc.

In maths this week we have also been looking at repeating patterns and trying to spot mistakes as well as matching quantity to numeral.

Bob the stick insect also hid some children's names around the nursery and we had to find them and tell him our initial sound as well as thinking of something else that begins with that sound. We also showed him how amazing we are at writing our names.

Our little rays of sunshine this week are Sheldon-Lee Norman as he was very interested in our minibeast hunt and thought very hard about where to look for various minibeasts. When he found them, he was very brave to pick them up and handled them very carefully. Albie Howe as he did an amazing job of creating ABAB patterns. Albie then created an ABCABC pattern independently. Annie-Mae Fletcher as she was a superstar at recognising the name cards of the other children in our group. She then used playdough to represent the letters in her name A,n,n,i,e. While reading the name cards she was also making up words which rhymed with everyone's name. She has most definitely got the hang of rhyming words. Isla Maskell as she really impressed me when doing our maths activity this week. Isla was able to recognise numbers 0-5. She then put 3 spots on the ladybird to match the number 3. Finally Jaxon Gibson as he has been a very kind friend and has used particularly good listening ears during group time and story time. Well done to you all, what superstars!
