Our imaginations!

This week has been full of fun and practicing all the learning the children have been doing over this year.

In math's the children have been playing lots of turn taking games and I have been impressed with their communication with one another, making sure everyone has their turn and using their math's skills to finish the games.

We have been reading Billy's Bucket written by Kes Gray. In this story Billy hopes for a bucket for his birthday and when he gets it, he sees some amazing things in his bucket. His mum and dad don't believe him of course and think he has a wonderful imagination. That is, until they borrow his bucket to wash the car! The children have been using their wonderful imaginations and have seen mermaids, ship wrecks and Nemo in their buckets, this then inspired some lovely writing where they have used all their phonic knowledge.

In adventure learning we had a great time in the wind. We read the story 'Someone Bigger' which is all about a boy who goes to fly his kite on a windy day and all sorts of people, and animals, get pulled up in the sky. They loved flying their ribbons in the wind and watching the clouds and birds moving quickly in the sky.

The children have had a visit from their new teachers this week, you will have found out who their teachers are in their report packs which were sent home today. Next week the children will start visiting their new classrooms and have time to explore and ask questions. They will have story times with their new teachers in their new classrooms and start to get to know one another. We know this is an exciting time but that it can also be a bit unnerving for your child and maybe for you too, so if you have any questions please do get in touch with us.
