Funnybones!

What a beautiful Autumn week we have had. The children had a fabulous time in forest garden noticing all the signs of Autumn, like the crisp colourful leaves under their feet and the cooler weather.

Our story this week has been 'Funnybones' and the children have been learning about their skeleton. They have learned some new names for their body parts including spine, hip and skull. They have done some labelling of the skeleton and we have been very impressed at how well they are hearing the initial phonemes in the words. We have talked about what helps keep our bones and bodies healthy.

In phonics the children have learned 'g' and 'o' and their tricky word is 'is'. It's a tricky word because the 's' makes a 'z' sound. Perhaps you could encourage them to be a word detective and see how many of their new phonemes and 'is' they can find around the house or when you are out and about.

Magic maths will continue this week with exploring the numbers 4 and 5. The children will still be subitising and going deep with understanding everything there is to know about these numbers. Can they spot any on the cars or buses, or on the doors?
