Aliens and Minibeasts

This half term has most definitely been short and sweet. We have jam packed it with so much fun and we are so excited for the fun to continue for the final half term of Reception. How did that happen?

Over the past two weeks we have been delving deeper into our topic, 'Between the Stars and the Sea' as we have met the aliens who love underpants. Well, I say we met them… they crash landed in our forest garden and left our underpants everywhere! It's a good job we have such an amazing Reception group who were able to retrieve them all back!

Following the aliens crash landing, things were beginning to feel a little too close for comfort and so we decided to focus more on things that live on Earth. This week, we have started learning about minibeasts through our story, 'Mad About Minibeasts'. We have been looking for them in our garden and then.. we became minibeasts! The children have been moving like different minibeasts from slithering like slugs to waltzing like dragonflies. We are looking forward to learning more about minibeasts upon our return to school on Monday 2nd June.

We had a little break away from our topic one afternoon as we met two bus drivers from Arriva. They talked to us about what they do and how you can become a bus driver. The children showed excellent listening skills.
