The VOC children had a very busy briefing today with lots to cover! There were three main points to discuss, but we only got through the first two due to time constraints.
Firstly, we were discussing how we were going to grow the money that we had previously made and we thought back to the questionnaire that we sent out at the start of the year, which asked for pupils' thoughts on ways to improve our school. One thing that came up a lot was KS2's desire for fruit at breaktime. Therefore, we came up with idea of setting up a weekly fruit shop for the rest of the summer term!
The VOC decided which fruits they wanted to sell and looked at the price to help decide what to sell them for. They came up with some lovely ideas, including making mixed berry pots and even making it a fruit pick and mix rather than just buying one type of fruit! We decided to keep our order small and simple for the first week to see how it went and how much we sold. We then made posters to advertise it around school.
The next subject to discuss was some kind of book donation/sale using the surplus books from the previous VOC book sale. The VOC decided to give each child in school a free book, that they could choose themselves. However, the gift came with a half term challenge! The VOC challenged pupils to read their book over the half term and complete a book review based off the book. Every pupil that returns a book review after the holidays will win 50 points for their house team! This is important as the all important rewards day for the winning team is coming up quickly!
Happy reading CPS!
