Fee Fi Fo Fum!

This week we have focused our learning around another traditional tale; Jack and the Beanstalk. We had a special delivery from the giant. He left us a letter asking us to do some measuring using some magic beans. We measured lots of different things in nursery to find out whether they were tall, short or long. Some of us also practised representing numbers with marks on the paper, by drawing a given number of leaves on the beanstalk. We have also been learning to understand and use positional language. The giant enjoyed playing hide and seek around his castle and we had to describe his position.

As we have such a love for stories in nursery, we visited the local library to choose one book to bring back to nursery. We are very excited to read them and can't wait for our next visit!

Our little rays of sunshine this week are Donna Emmerson for telling me how our story began and how it ended, showing a great awareness of the structure of the story. Fantastic work Donna! Jak Beasley for his brilliant understanding of positional language. He was able to tell me where the giant was hiding and was then able to place the giant in, on, under, next to and behind. Great work Jak! River Thompson for recognising numerals and representing the number by drawing leaves on the beanstalk. He even managed to form some numerals correctly. Well done River, what a superstar! Sophie Pearson for doing some fantastic measuring using our magic beans. She described the giant as tall and Jack as short. She was even able to confidently count the beans and represent her answer with marks on the paper. Fantastic work Sophie! And finally Levi-Lucas McManus for being so sensible when visiting the library. You were such a good boy Levi and enjoyed choosing your book to bring back to nursery. I am very proud of you Levi!
