Learning from Home - Year 5

Student Reports

Published on Tuesday 2 June 2020 by Crook Primary.

Dear Parents/Carers

This year our end of year reports will not be the same as usual due to lockdown. They will simply provide a generalised snapshot of where your child was in March . Reports will be sent to you over the next few weeks as the teachers write them one by one rather than having a day when we send out all the reports. They will be sent through Marvellous Me . We know the parents who do not have a Marvellous Me account. These parents will be contacted once the report is written and we can either send it in the post or leave it for collection.

We are very aware that you have become your child's teachers during lockdown and that your child will have changed a lot since March!

It would really help us if you could give us some idea of how your child has developed during this period. Therefore with your report will be a form that you could complete for us to help us for next year. It is not compulsory but it would be wonderful if you could complete and send back to school using the year group email by the middle of July. The form can also be downloaded by clicking the link below.

Kind regards

Antonella Lupton

Week Beginning 1st June - Y5

Published on Sunday 31 May 2020 by Crook Primary.

Hi Year 5.

We have organised a timetable for you to help keep you on track for when we all return to school. We have included a range of different subjects, themes and challenges to help keep your mind and body busy and switched on! Maths, English, Reading and PE should be done every day, and then there are other tasks linked to year 5 work. We hope you enjoy them and look forward to seeing what you are up to!

Parents and Carers, as the time away from school is continuing, we hope that this will help you to keep the children in a structured routine. The resources are all included on this document and links are attached where appropriate. However, the pages do not need to be printed off – the children can work from the questions on these pages and write their answers in the books we gave them when school finished or on paper they have at home.

Stay safe and see you soon!

Year 5 Home Learning

Published on Thursday 14 May 2020 by Mrs Hunter.

We have had some fantastic emails with your work on over the last couple of weeks, so we thought it would be great to show it off! Laila has written an amazing setting description from 'The Game' task we set this week. We love how full of description it is - you feel as if you are there! She has also been following the instructions to draw an eye and I think you'll agree, they are amazing!

Oliver has been enjoying the Aztec challenges, making a model of a side temple (with a guided tour), a flag and some fantastic quiz questions. We are so impressed with his creativity! Why don't you see if you can write a quiz for each other?

Year 5 Home Learning

Leah has completed so much of the work we have set, which is amazing. She is really pushing herself and the effort is fantastic to see. She has also created an Aztec temple and worked through the maths and English tasks.

Finally, Kelsey has written a brilliant setting description, really concentrating on her handwriting. We loved reading it and can see how hard she is trying.

We are really proud of all of your efforts. We would love to see more of your work, or other challenges you have been completing while at home. Please send them to year5@crookprimaryschool.org.uk

Stay safe and we are looking forward to seeing you when it is safe to come back to school.

Think back to the beginning of year 5. We started looking at Greek Myths. We thought it'd be great to have another look at this era and have designed a really creative unit for you to work on. You will be the main character and can make it as exciting and scary as you like! The only limit is your imagination.

Please can you send us some pictures of some of the work you have done. We really miss you and would love to see what you are up to at home! It doesn't have to be whole stories, just bits you have written or activities you have tried at home.

    Stay safe and take care.

Please try and send as many of the tasks that you complete to us by the Year 5 email on the Year 5 page so that we can share your work on our website. We look forward to seeing what you do.

The following slides go through all of the maths skills for year 5. Some we have covered, others we have not yet, but they build on your skills from other years. Each skill has a set of instructions to help you and the answers so you can check if you are correct. Give them a go - try teaching the skills you are familiar with to your family, or get them to test you! See what you can do.

    Home Learning Resources

Published on Wednesday 8 April 2020 by Crook Primary.

The government has published an extensive list of free resources and online activities which children can use at home to support home learning. They are really useful for filling in time throughout the day and include lots of online activities as well as practical activities to do at home. There are a number of really lovely reading sites where children can listen to famous authors read a story to them, why not add it into their daily routine.

Click here to visit the government resources page.

Hamilton Trust has also created a huge amount of activities with really clear straightforward instructions. You can find their resources under each year group page within the Hamilton Trust Home Learning folder.
