This weekend Harry from Year 4 has been helping to make the environment a better place and wrote a report...

On Saturday 16th October my dad, a family friend and I together with a small group volunteered to help improve the environment by litter picking along Derwent water in Keswick.

This was done with the help of Keswick Canoe and Bushcraft. This was no ordinary canoeing as we were helping to save the environment. At the start we were given gloves and a bin bag to pick up rubbish. As we were on the lake we passed Beatrix Potters house. As a reward we were treated with hot chocolate, coffees, biscuits and fruit.

We even managed to feature on the BBC north east news.

I thoroughly enjoyed participating in this event and understood the importance of looking after the environment. I learnt how picking up rubbish saves the environment and won't harm as many animals. My dad, our friend and I also learnt the importance of team work as we had to row at the same time to make canoeing easier for us.
