- About Us
This week our Nursery provision was based around Halloween. We read the story 'Room on the Broom' and the children enjoyed joining in with the repetitive rhymes and retelling the story using the puppets. We also made some silly soup using rhyming words or initial sounds. The children also were very creative and used apples to do some pumpkin printing and made some scary spiders using the playdough.
In Maths this week we looked at capacity and the children learnt all about the containers being full and empty. They were able to identify which containers were full and empty as well as making their own containers full or empty. Some children even looked at the term half full because full and empty was just too easy for them! We also did some counting and matching using spooky spiders. The children had to put the correct number of legs on each spider and what a great job the children did!
Our little rays of sunshine this week are Ellis Johnson as he is becoming more familiar with following nursery routines and is settling into his new group. He also enjoyed exploring the Halloween objects. Millie Winter for concentrating so hard whilst playing with the jigsaws and helping her friends when they struggled. Ariella-Mai Nabbs for trying very hard with using the toilet and always being happy in Nursery. Amelia Holmes for doing such a great job at retelling the story this week. She referred to the pictures and used her prior knowledge to retell it to her friends. Finally, Myla Stewart as she impressed so much during the silly soup activity. She was able to identify initial sounds that matched her friends names such as “Monkey Myla and Pirate Paisley”. Well done to you all, what superstars!
Just a little reminder we break up today for our half term break. We will return on Monday 1st November which is Halloween dress up day. Enjoy the half term everyone and see you on Monday 1st November. Happy Halloween!!
