This week we have started our people who help us topic and our profession this week was police officers. We were very lucky to have 2 visits from some of our local PCSOs. They talked to us about their role and how they can help people which included keeping us safe, looking for people who have gone missing, helping people who may have been in car accidents, keeping the roads safe, making sure people are following the rules and also ensuring people who have not followed rules are dealt with. They also talked to us about the equipment they used. We were also very lucky on Monday to see the PCSOs fly a drone on our school field and they told us this is a way of seeing lots of the ground in a quick way especially if they are looking for someone. The children also really enjoyed sitting in the police car and van.

The morning children have also started to learn some phoneme sounds this week and our focus was s. We looked at how to pronounce s correctly, what it looks like, how to write s correctly and also different objects that begin with s. Our afternoon children have been making marks to represent their name in their police badges.

We have also been learning all about zero. We have learnt what zero means, what it looks like, what it represents, and how to show zero fingers. The afternoon children have been sorting big and small objects.

Our little rays of sunshine this week are Eric Hendry as he was amazing when learning all about zero. He was able to show me zero fingers and did a great job when writing zero. Bertie Cavagin as he did an amazing job when learning all about zero. He was able to splat the zero each time and show me zero fingers. Jaxon Gibson as he also did a great job when learning about zero. He was able to show zero fingers, give me zero and find pictures which represent zero. He has also been doing some great tidying this week and following instructions. Isla Maskell as she also showed a good understanding of the number zero as she was able to tell us “zero means nothing”. She was also able to show zero fingers and knew she needed to put no toys on the tens frame. She was also very good at spotting people who did it wrong. River-Mae Conlon for doing a super job at the matching pairs game. She was able to correctly match all the pairs for the people who help us game. Finally Kaleb Bowron for his amazing colour matching. He was able to place the right coloured ball in the correct corresponding holes to go down the ramp. Well done to you all, what superstars!

Next week our focus will be the fire fighters. We will be visiting the fire station on Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon.
