There has been so much going on in nursery this week. Our focus has been making some cards for the special men in our life such as Dads or Grandads. The children have used their handprint to make a trophy handprint card. We have also been amazed at how good some of the children are now at writing their names. It just proves the more practice the children do, the better they become. They have all tried so hard with this for their special card. We hope all of the Dads/Grandads have a lovely Father's Day on Sunday!
We have also been practising some of our phonemes that we have recently learnt as we have been recapping them this week. This is just to give the children an awareness of some of the sounds and also to look at different objects that begin with that sound. We have also been practising our writing skills and trying hard to form the letters. The phonemes we have learnt are s,a,t.

This week we have also been learning all about the number 3. We have looked at giving 3, identifying 3, showing 3 using fingers, representing 3 and recognising the number. The children continue to love to be number and sound detectives in nursery!
Our afternoon children have been doing some shape work and pattern work. They have been identifying different shapes and looking at everyday objects to see what shape they are. Some children also made some shape pictures.

We have also been enjoying the sunshine in provision this week. On Wednesday we had some men in cutting some trees down in the nursery garden and the children were fascinated watching them. So, instead of using the nursery garden we had to go onto the school field for some fresh air. This was new to some children but they all had lots of fun!
Our little rays of sunshine this week are Coby Dent as he blew my socks off when writing his name for his special card this week. Coby often practices writing his name at nursery and this has most definitely paid off. Erin Hanmer as she did a great job when learning all about the number 3. She was able to represent it by showing three fingers, drawing a three and giving me three. Erin Hodkinson as she has really impressed with her name writing. She did a great job of forming her letters and has made amazing progress. Annie-Rose Conlon as she was a superstar at our shape activity and could name most shapes. During free flow Annie-Rose used the shapes and told me “me making a house”. Willow Mash as she did a great job at number sorting. She was able to sort the one, two and three items with no support. Finally, River-Mae Conlon as she has really impressed this week with her name. She did a great job of trying to form each letter and has made good progress. Well done to you all, what superstars!

Just a reminder next Friday is teacher training day so nursery and school are closed for the day.
