WAR IS OVER!

Year 3 have stepped back in time today, whilst reflecting on WW2 to celebrate the declaration of victory of the Nazis and end of war in Europe. The country celebrated on the bank holiday, but here at Crook Primary we waited until the anniversary of VE day. After beginning our week with a live assembly regarding VE Day 80, we were already aware of it's significance and excited to come dressed in red, white and blue for the occasion.

We completed our regular lessons this morning, then it was party time in the afternoon! We learned a little more about what VE meant and how significant it was for British people in 1945 and watched some interviews of people who were alive to see it happening. We made our own Union Flags and party hats and headed out to the field for a street party!

Once outside, we listened to songs that the people of 1945 might have celebrated too, drank juice and decorated our own biscuits with the same colours that we were dressed in - there were some very artistic attempts. They tasted delicious too!
